Woodburning stoves in a conservatory

We often get asked the question `Can we fit a stove in a conservatory ?` The answer is yes, and we probably fit one each week in the winter period.
The result is an absolute transformation of that cold room which you are reluctant to use in the winter months to a room that you never want to leave !

Example 1

Above shows the conservatory when we did our first site visit to advise the client.

The picture on the right shows the stove fitted on the original outside wall of the house and the flue passes through the poly carbonate roof via a specialist flashing.
The flue was then supported above the roof with a `wall support bracket` and passes the guttering to a height which is determined by the roof angle and neighbouring structures.

To finish the job the customer chose to have the flue painted black which helped it to blend in with the black and white style of the house.

Example 2

To the right the custom bracket can be seen here behind the flue pipe and the `loop` shaped band enables the original roof tension rod to still do it`s intended job, fixed to the conservatory structure and totally independant of the flue.

The Contura 51L stove to the left is fitted into a conservatory using Poujoulat Therminox flue and a custom made bracket of our own design.
The bracket is attached to the `dwarf wall` of the conservatory creating a rigid structure which extends to the roofline and allowing us to fit the support band from the the flue.
It is a Building Regulation requirement that a flue is not be dependant on the stove for support or stability and the custom bracket achieves this requirement.

The Upvc sill has been partly cut away and replaced with a black steel section to meet the clearance to combustible materials

The installer is securing the roof flashing for the final weatherproof seal.

This system had a total flue height of 3.5M of which 2M showed above the roof. Altough the building regulations ask for taller than this we use the Contura stoves as they state a minimum of 3.5M overall flue length and they are still very controllable
